Flamenco for non-Flamenco bodies - workshop
An introduction to the world of flamenco for those interested in the rhythmic and expressive potential of this dance art. Through guided exercises, participants will learn the basic elements of flamenco: compás (rhythm), palmas (clapping), jaleos (vocal shouts of encouragement), and structural improvisation. They will also explore the rhythm of tangos, using percussive footwork, body percussion, and voice. They will experience a wide range of flamenco - from its minimal movement - internal impulse to maximum expression.

The workshop proposes treating the body as both an instrument and a storyteller. It will allow the body to speak, clap, stomp and blossom in this energetic world.

The class will end with the creation of a short group choreography that combines the technical and creative elements learned during the workshop.

The class is for anyone interested in movement—no previous experience with flamenco is required.

What to bring:
• Comfortable clothing
• Flamenco accessories, if you have them: shawl, fan, skirt, flowers
