    2023

The project to establish the PAVILION OF DANCE AND OTHER PERFORMING ARTS was inaugurated in 2023 by the Culture Department of the City of Warsaw.

The initiative aimed to create and design a formula for a one-year pilot program for dance, choreography, and performance through open consultations and research. The Warsaw community of dance and choreography artists, as well as institutions and organizations active in this field, who had been advocating for a dedicated dance venue in the capital for many years, were invited to discuss the new space. Community consultations took place from September 2023 to March 2024 and were conducted by the Warsaw Cultural Observatory.
    2025

Since February 7, 2025, the Pavilion building has been undergoing modernization to transform its function from exhibition to performance.

The Pavilion on the Vistula is located in Powiśle, at Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 22, next to the Copernicus Science Centre and the University Library (BUW). It was designed by Austrian architect Adolf Krischanitz.

From 2008 to 2010, it served as the temporary headquarters of Kunsthalle in Berlin. In 2016, the Pavilion was lent to the Museum free of charge by the Viennese Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary foundation, established in 2002 by Francesca von Habsburg. The foundation is dedicated to promoting experimental art and architecture.

In the middle of the year, the Pavilion team expanded to include production staff. The Pavilion team consists of: Alicja Berejowska (curator), Renata Piotrowska-Auffret (curator), Filip Pawlak (head producer), Joanna Bury (junior producer),
Dagmar Torłop (junior producer), Anna Cygankiewicz (communication coordinator), Magdalena Komornicka (branch manager).

In accordance with the competition guidelines, the Pavilion will host at least 5 premieres, 150 events at the venue, and 20 outdoor events. The detailed program and ticket sales are available in the "Repertoire" tab!

In June 2024, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Culture Department of the City of Warsaw announced an open competition for the creation of a concept for a pilot curatorial program for the space of the PAVILION OF DANCE AND OTHER PERFORMING ARTS.
