Kiwaki. Movement workshops for families with children
DANCING FAMILIES
We invite children and adults to join us on an adventure of movement and dance! The workshops strengthen family bonds, develop imagination, and allow participants to express themselves through movement.

Together:
  • we discover space and rhythm,
  • we practice natural movement patterns,
  • we play with gestures and movement,
  • we observe ourselves and others, learning mindfulness,
  • We stimulate and calm the body and mind.

The instructions are simple—children and adults follow them as they feel. We dance barefoot and in comfortable clothes to enjoy complete freedom of movement and the joy of playing together.
The classes are led by Monika Kiwak, who has been working with families since 2016 and regularly collaborates with the Roztańczone Rodziny (Dancing Families) program. Thanks to her work in kindergartens, she is able to combine methods for children and adults, creating classes tailored to each group.

The project is operated by the Performat Foundation. Hanna Bylka-Kanecka is the program's content supervisor.

The workshops, held from 10:00 to 11:00, are intended for families with children aged 4-6.

The workshops, held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., are intended for families with children aged 7-10.

Please note! We kindly ask you to purchase a ticket for each member of your family.

Since 2016, she has been conducting workshops for families, regularly collaborating with the Roztańczone Rodziny (Dancing Families) program. Thanks to her weekly work in kindergartens, she is constantly developing and modifying her practices in terms of methodology and teaching content. She conducted her first classes with children in kindergarten during a two-year contemporary dance instructor course organized by the National Center for Culture in 2012.

She teaches regularly, combining her pedagogical work with solo improvisation with text, and previously also with intensive practice of Body-Mind Centering, contemporary dance, and Contact Improvisation. In her work with families, she focuses on self-expression and movement as a bonding factor and a form of play. She also has performance experience – she has danced in performances for children up to 18 months of age, including Baby Space directed by Dalija Acin Thelander and performances by Alicja Morawska-Rubczak.
Monika Kiwak
Choreographer, researcher, mother. Since 2018, she has been the content supervisor of the Roztańczone Rodziny (Dancing Families) program—the first initiative in Poland focused on the development of contemporary dance and experimental choreography for families, operating continuously since 2011 in cooperation with the Performat Foundation.

Initiator and co-founder of the Holobiont collective (2016–2024), which creates dance performances for families, presented in Poland and abroad. Author of the interactive dance solo Somatulki for children in kindergartens (2023, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship) and the performance U-rodziny about pregnancy and childbirth for families with children aged 3 and above (2025, produced by the Children's Art Center).
She collaborates with the Children's Art Center in Poznań, where she co-curated the Forum on Contemporary Dance and Choreography for Young Audiences with Joanna Żygowska. Since 2022, she has been a member of the board of the Young Dance Network, a global artistic exchange network operating under the umbrella of ASSITEJ International. She draws her greatest artistic inspiration from the physical observation of the various dimensions of her own motherhood.
