From the Pavilion to the Playground
A Somatic Walk with ALKA NAUMAN
Somatic walks from the Pavilion to Plac Zabaw, led by choreographers and performers Magda Jędra and Alka Nauman, introduce audiences from neighboring Vistula River-side venues to the Thursday evening Lado w Mieście events. A fixture on the capital’s cultural map since 2010, this series consists of free outdoor concerts.
The walks are designed to bring people together as they traverse the Vistula boulevards—places where the city meets nature. Somatic practices serve as a pretext for mindfully experiencing movement and the surroundings, and for examining how the body co-creates the experience of a place.
The theme of the “Hearts, Fluids, and Spirals” walk with experimental choreographer Alka Nauman will be everything around us that is fluid, enchanting, yet also bizarre.
A somatic approach, focused on the conscious experience of the body from within, will allow us to explore how to follow the heart and embody its logic, full of whirls and disorientation.
The walk will incorporate various body-movement practices inspired by ecosomatics and queer poetry, inviting participants to experience the surrounding landscape affectively.
No prior dance experience is required.

Duration: 60–90 minutes
interdisciplinary artist, experimental choreographer, dancer, anti-fascist, and writer. She graduated with a degree in choreography from the London Contemporary Dance School and in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Warsaw. She is the recipient of an artistic scholarship from the City of Warsaw (2025) and the PEER Program at Studio Wayne McGregor in London (2020–2022). She believes that dance and choreography provide tools for bringing about grassroots social change that incorporates the body as the primary source of knowledge. She is interested in creating artistic processes in which risk-taking and boldness arise from a sense of humor and eccentricity.
