A Choreographed Walk with Kaya Kołodziejczyk
FIELD TRIP

ATTENTION! The walk will start at 39 Tamka Street

EXCURSION. A CHOREOGRAPHIC WALK WITH KAYA KOŁODZIEJCZYK

Kaya Kołodziejczyk invites you to a choreographed walk through Powiśle. By visiting well-known, historic, and legendary sites, as well as intimate spaces connected to the history of dance and choreography, participants will discover Powiśle as a space for an EXCURSION. And such a leisurely, meandering excursion is a chance to relax, break away from the daily routine, and embrace new experiences—activity, adventure, and a change of scenery. It’s about exploring unfamiliar places, taking photos, collecting memories, having fun, with a backpack on your back and sandwiches wrapped in lunch paper.

In her artistic practice, Kaya Kołodziejczyk explores the possibilities of consciously and directly transcending the psychophysical boundaries of theater. In the performances she has co-created, the traditional boundary between the stage, the audience, and the performance space has often been blurred. Audience members became part of the unfolding event, while dancers and actors performed in their immediate vicinity. By inviting audiences to join her on a WALK, she once again crosses the symbolic “fourth wall” (the conventional boundary between performers and the audience), engaging the walk’s participants in a direct experience of the urban fabric.

The artist invites you to experience urban choreography—a practice in which movement, memory, observation, and presence intertwine with the city’s energy. THE TOUR becomes an opportunity to explore the space together, to look closely at its layers, and to experience the city as a living, constantly choreographed organism.

Meeting place: The Golden Duck Monument in Warsaw—you’ll find it in the courtyard at the foot of Ostrogski Castle at 39 Tamka Street (currently the headquarters of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum).

Choreographer, dancer, and performer. After several years of working with the Rosas company, led by Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker in Belgium, she developed her own choreographic practice, creating productions such as SOL, Legendy, Exkurs, Oh Noh, Harnasie, and Gorycz. In her work, she combines choreography, music, and text, developing forms that straddle the boundaries between dance, theater, and performance art. She has collaborated with theaters and cultural institutions in Poland, creating choreography for theatrical productions and interdisciplinary projects. She has worked repeatedly with director Maja Kleczewska on the productions *Malowany ptak*, *Golem*, *Berek*, *Dziady*, and *Wesele*, also participating in them as a performer. As a choreographer, she has worked on film productions directed by Agnieszka Smoczyńska (*Córki dancingu*, *Fuga*, *The Silent Twins*), Anna Maliszewska (*Piekło kobiet*), and Kasper Bajon (*Projekt UFO*). She has participated in interdisciplinary projects, including *Random Check Ensemble / Matching Components*, presented at the Warsaw Autumn Festival (2024), and *Muzeum Ciał*, staged at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2025). She is active as an educator, conducting workshops and lectures at institutions such as IRCAM in Paris, Sophiensaele in Berlin, P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, and the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań. She is a member of the choreography section of ZAiKS. Together with Aleksandra Lemba, she develops a practice of coordinating intimate scenes in theater and film.
