This series of evening classes is based on practices rooted in ballroom culture. The sessions will combine dance with bodywork, gesture, voice, fashion, and confidence-building. Participants will explore selected ballroom categories, such as Runway, Face with Performance, Vogue Old Way, Vogue Fem, and Ballroom Commentating.

Each session includes a warm-up, an introduction to the history and rules of a given category, and a practical component. Participants will perform individual and partner exercises, short choreographed sequences, and improvisational tasks designed to develop body awareness, musicality, and stage presence.

The classes are taught from a body-positive perspective. A key element is learning about the queer history, values, and emancipatory dimension of American ballroom culture and exploring them through the body, movement, and voice. A safe space for experimentation and self-expression will be created. The classes are aimed particularly at queer youth, people with immigrant backgrounds, people of color, and women, as well as anyone interested in ballroom and movement practices.

The program is process-oriented and can be adapted to the group’s level. No prior dance experience is required. The goal is to develop individual expression, self-confidence, body awareness, and performance skills, and to use dance and voice as tools for emancipation, communication, and community building.

Visual artist, performer, and choreographer; graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She has been involved in ballroom culture since 2012 and is considered the mother of the Warsaw ballroom scene and one of its pioneers in Poland. From 2014 to 2021, she was a member of New York’s The Royal House of Milan, and since 2022, she has served as Polish Mother at The International House of Elle. Since 2016, she has curated “Bal u Bożeny,” an event that combines ballroom, club culture, education, and community-building. In her practice, she explores the relationships between movement, voice, performance, and queer identity, drawing on body positivity and the political dimension of the body. She views dance as a tool for expression, emancipation, and social change. She completed the Choreography at the Center program. She works in theater, contemporary art, and commercial projects as a choreographer, performer, and movement director. She has collaborated with, among others, TR Warszawa, Teatr Studio, Komuna Warszawa, Zachęta, the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, the Museum of Modern Art, and MOCAK.
