Somatic Warm Up – Morning Body-Mind Centering® Class for Advanced Students
EDUCATIONAL TUESDAYS
Morning classes for people who work with movement and want to connect with their bodies, awaken their awareness, and discover new and forgotten connections in movement.

The practice is based on the somatic approach of Body-Mind Centering® and combines experiential anatomy with mindful movement, improvisation, and imaginative work. Through movement, touch, breath, attention, and anatomical visualizations, you can feel how what is happening inside us influences the way we move. How does movement change when we listen to the body from a different perspective? What can happen at the intersection of sensation, imagination, and action?

The “Somatic – Warmup*” series will focus on basic neurocellular patterns—the earliest forms of movement organization that develop even before birth and during the first year of life. They form the foundation of walking, dancing, and how we relate to our surroundings and others. Throughout the series, participants will experience how selected patterns support movement and open up new qualities of sensation, presence, and perception. We’ll combine this work with practices involving other systems (e.g., organs, fluids, or bones).

The series consists of four 90-minute sessions. During the sessions, we’ll engage in individual work, work in pairs, in small groups, and as a whole group. Some activities may involve working with self-touch and touch from others. The sessions are designed as a series of interconnected themes, so we encourage you to participate in the entire series. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.

* The warm-up will be a process of gradually coming into your body, awakening your attention and sensitivity, and attuning your senses by grounding yourself in your physicality and becoming “awake, alert, and available.”

The classes are conducted in Polish; instructions may be repeated in English.

Each exercise is a suggestion that you may choose to do, modify, or skip; you may rest at any time.

Some exercises may involve physical contact; participation is voluntary.

Music is used during the sessions; the volume can be adjusted at the request of participants.

No prior experience with somatic work is required.
