group mentoring with Julia Asperska
Dance Photos #3
Julia Asperska, an experienced curator, coach, entrepreneur, and co-founder of the startup KinetiQ Lab, will lead the second community meeting in the “Dance Professionals” series. Group mentoring is part of a series of regular meetings with experienced female managers and producers at the Dance Pavilion, dedicated to people who work on a daily basis in institutions or on projects in the field of dance and other performing arts, in roles other than creative and artistic ones.

The aim of these meetings is to create a platform and forum for the exchange of information, knowledge, and experiences, as well as to invest in the resources and competencies of Warsaw’s dance community.

Here’s how the facilitator herself invites you to the mentoring session:

Bring your current challenge to the workshop. Are you wondering how to build a global network of contacts without giving up local partnerships and your local audience? Are you concerned about overproduction in the performing arts sector? Are you worried about burnout? Do you want to build lasting relationships with local and international audiences? Do you have an idea for a project but lack partners? Do you complain about too many collaborations or a complete lack of them? Don’t know where to start? Or maybe you don’t know how to say “no”?

I don’t have a ready-made strategy for the sustainable development of an international career or a perfect formula for international or local collaboration, but I believe we learn fastest by drawing on mutual inspiration and exchange.

The workshop is based on small-group work, used to discuss case studies and then collaboratively solve or reframe challenges using the Mastermind method. Each participant presents one key challenge they’re currently facing. The group collectively selects two cases for in-depth group work.

The meeting lasts 3 hours, including a 20-minute break.

Please note! The event will take place at WOK Lab, located at 34/50 Marszałkowska Street.

Anyone wishing to participate in a mentoring session confirms that they have read the terms of the agreement:

Mentoring sessions are opportunities for collaboration, exchange, and mutual support. We ask participants to follow a few rules:

Respect for meeting participants:
• Treat others with dignity, kindness, and respect regardless of their background, appearance, skin color, religion, gender, language, or ability.

• Respect the mentoring method and the process in which you are participating alongside others. Follow the guidelines presented by the facilitator.

• Respect your own time and that of others—do not exceed the allotted speaking time.

• Mentoring is an opportunity for mutual exchange and support—do not lecture or give advice—speak from a “first-person” perspective.

• Accept refusals with understanding and calm – everyone’s needs are equally important.

• Turn off your phone during the meeting. Be fully present and focused.

Confidentiality and trust

Maintain confidentiality. What is said in confidence stays within the group.

• Respect the privacy of others’ personal stories, struggles, and creative processes.

• If conflicts arise, strive for communication based on empathy and nonviolence.

• Approach differences with curiosity, not judgment.

Safety and Well-being

• Discrimination, harassment, or violence in any form will not be tolerated.

• During group work, it is not permitted to use or be under the influence of psychoactive substances.

• In the event of a threat or emergency, immediately inform the facilitator and/or organizers

• Take care of your well-being during breaks.
