“My Fierce Ignorant Step” is the latest performance by Christos Papadopoulos – one of the leading figures in European contemporary choreography. The Greek artist gained international recognition in 2016 with his performance “Elvedon,” selected for the Aerowaves network of European dance houses. Today, he collaborates with prestigious performing arts institutions such as Onassis Stegi in Athens and Théâtre de la Ville in Paris.
In this new, optimistic, and captivating performance, ten dancers create a stage situation where bodies, voices, and memories resonate like instruments, building a communal experience. Papadopoulos, faithful to choreographic minimalism, explores the potential of dance as a form of shared experience and dialogue.
In a world full of anxiety and isolation, “My Fierce Ignorant Step” raises questions about what it means to be together today – not only in a social sense, but also in a bodily, dance-related sense. This choreography is about first times, the joy of life, and the strength that comes from a shared rhythm.
After the performance on January 9th, there will be a meeting with the artists, with Polish Sign Language interpretation. The discussion will be moderated by Anna Sańczuk, a journalist, art historian, and author of podcasts and cultural programs.
