October/November classes
Workshops for women 50 and older

CELEBRATION
The Celebration workshop is aimed at women aged 50+. Its starting point is an artistic practice exploring the female body, its physicality, and intimacy. By deconstructing established meanings and images of the female body, this practice leads to the discovery and creation of new, organic qualities and forms.

This workshop will be an opportunity to create a shared narrative about the possibilities open to mature women, about the desire present in mature female bodies and the empowering power that flows from it.

Through dance, movement, and listening to their own stories and the experiences of others, participants will search the body for stories about freedom in movement and being. In opposition to contemporary perspectives, they will reject the aesthetic and strained to find in dance what gives freedom, allows for the expression of one's own experiences, and brings pleasure.

Participants will also explore artists, choreographers, and dancers such as Martha Graham and Pina Bausch. They will learn about their stories, their art, and above all, their dance, which accompanied them throughout their lives and served as a manifestation of freedom, feelings, and experiences.

The workshop will also be a space for exploring individual movement codes that allow you to affirm your own corporeality, maturity and the pleasure that comes from it.

"…women should allow their faces to show the lives they have lived. Women should tell the truth…"
Susan Sontag, The Double Standard of Aging

The workshop is carried out as part of the ZAiKS creative scholarship.
