U:NEW Dance Wave Festival is a cyclical event dedicated to contemporary dance and experimental choreography, organized in Warsaw by HOTELOKO Company and the Theatre Development Foundation "NOWA FALA" since 2020.
The festival provides an opportunity for HOTELOKO to connect with Warsaw audiences and artists from different countries, generations, and career stages. Dance and choreography, and their connections to contemporary social and ecological issues, are at the heart of the program.
For one evening, HOTELOKO Company from Warsaw and Compagnie Vialuni from Corsica will meet at the Pavilion. The performances will be accompanied by a screening of Agnieszka Gąsiorek's film "becoming taiga."
The performance "Agricole," choreographed by Michèle Ettori (La Cie Vialuni), focuses on mindfulness of all living things. In a sparse, land-art-inspired stage space, two performers of varying ages create a choreography based on gesture, breath, and relationships with nature: earth, water, plants, and the smallest forms of life. Fragments of poetry, including those by Guillevic and Virgil, intertwine with movement to create a story about cultivation, care, and growth—both in the natural world and in human relationships.
“Shared Dreams” is the latest production from HOTELOKO Company.
"Becoming Taiga" is a film by Agnieszka Gąsiorek – a poetic documentation of a meeting between members of the TAIGA and FJORDS communities, created by the organization new visions (Berlin). Documentary images intertwine with the participants' poetry, their singing, and images of nature, movement, and closeness. The film tells the story of the relationships that developed during several days spent together in an Estonian forest.
