a LIVE, DIVERSE
AND ACCESSIBLE place.
The Pavilion of Dance and Other Performing Arts is like a flexible, learning organism that connects artists, audiences, and urban life.

It is a space where dance operates on its own terms – as art, a shared experience, and a form of togetherness. The Pavilion's program includes performances, artistic residencies, dance events, “baby raves” and “sober raves”, site-specific activities, and a broad educational program – for everyone, regardless of age or dance experience.

We create the Pavilion together with you: through open calls, local and international collaborations, artistic experiments, and dance gatherings on the Boulevards and in Powiśle.

Present your project on the Pawilon stage. We are looking for creative individuals, artistic collectives, informal groups, and non-governmental organizations conducting diverse activities in the field of dance, choreography, and performing arts.

the path to the DANCE pavilion
AND OTHER PERFORMING ARTS
2023

The project to establish the PAVILION OF DANCE AND OTHER PERFORMING ARTS was inaugurated in 2023 by the Culture Department of the City of Warsaw.

The initiative aimed to create and design a formula for a one-year pilot program for dance, choreography, and performance through open consultations and research. The Warsaw community of dance and choreography artists, as well as institutions and organizations active in this field, who had been advocating for a dedicated dance venue in the capital for many years, were invited to discuss the new space. Community consultations took place from September 2023 to March 2024 and were conducted by the Warsaw Cultural Observatory.
2025

Since February 7, 2025, the Pavilion building has been undergoing modernization to transform its function from exhibition to performance.

The Pavilion on the Vistula is located in Powiśle, at Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 22, next to the Copernicus Science Centre and the University Library (BUW). It was designed by Austrian architect Adolf Krischanitz.

From 2008 to 2010, it served as the temporary headquarters of Kunsthalle in Berlin. In 2016, the Pavilion was lent to the Museum free of charge by the Viennese Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary foundation, established in 2002 by Francesca von Habsburg. The foundation is dedicated to promoting experimental art and architecture.

In the middle of the year, the Pavilion team expanded to include production staff. The Pavilion team consists of: Alicja Berejowska (curator), Renata Piotrowska-Auffret (curator), Filip Pawlak (head producer), Joanna Bury (junior producer),
Dagmar Torłop (junior producer), Anna Cygankiewicz (communication coordinator), Magdalena Komornicka (branch manager).
2026

A pilot curatorial program, curated by Renata Piotrowska-Auffret and Alicja Berejowska, will launch soon. In the Pavilion, according to the competition guidelines, a minimum of 5 premieres,
150 indoor events, and 20 outdoor events will be realized. Program announcement and ticket sales coming soon!
2024

On April 4, 2024, the City Council approved an amendment to the statute of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, separating the Pavilion on the Vistula as a branch of the Museum.

At the session on March 14, 2024, the Council granted MSN an investment subsidy for activities related to the modernization and purchase of equipment for the Pavilion. In June 2024, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Culture Department of the City of Warsaw announced an open competition for the creation of a concept for a pilot curatorial program for the space of the PAVILION OF DANCE AND OTHER PERFORMING ARTS.

On November 15, 2024, the competition committee for the second stage of the competition, which included Agnieszka Wyrwał (Chairwoman of the Culture and City Promotion Committee, City Councilor of Warsaw), Aldona Machnowska-Góra (Deputy Mayor of Warsaw), Artur Jóźwik (Director of the Culture Department of the City of Warsaw), Zofia Dworakowska (Chairwoman of the Social Council for Culture), Julia Hoczyk (representative of the Sectoral Social Dialogue Commission for Dance), Joanna Leśnierowska (representative of the Warsaw Cultural Observatory), Szymon Żydek (Deputy Director for Operations at MSN), Sylwia Kłyczek (HR consultant, MSN), and Magdalena Komornicka (Branch Manager of the Pavilion on the Vistula, MSN), recommended for further work the concept presented by the team represented by Alicja Berejowska, Renata Piotrowska-Auffret, and Joanna Szymajda.
