CO-HOUSING – Warsaw versions
Magdalena Fejdasz-Hanczewska and Iza Szostak with their families in a stage experiment entitled "
" (The World of Children).

What will happen to a performance if a few-year-old child takes the reins and becomes its choreographer or director, creating a stage situation in front of the audience? Come and see for yourself what the effect of this unusual experiment will be!

"WSPÓŁUDOMOWIENIE – Warsaw versions" are performances by Krõõt Juurak and Alex Bailey, co-created and performed in parallel by two Warsaw families of dancers and choreographers: Iza Szostak and Magdalena Fejdasz-Hanczewska. In the original version (2019), Juurak and Bailey's young son was invited to co-create the performance. The Warsaw version of the performance
with Iza Szostak and her family premiered in September 2025 at the Ochota Cultural Center. The Warsaw version of the performance with Magdalena Fejdasz-Hanczewska and her family will premiere on March 7, 2026, at the Dance Pavilion.

The project addresses the issue of cooperation between adults and children, in which it is sometimes necessary to give up
artistic ambitions in favor of attentiveness, flexibility, and care. Children are considered an economic burden requiring care, yet they rarely have access to adult workplaces, including those of artists.

"WSPÓŁUDOMOWIENIE – wersje warszawskie" raises questions about the place of children in a society where work and family life are often mutually exclusive. The artists propose looking at children as co-creators of reality – including artistic reality. The performance combines care, affective work, and creativity, revealing their shared, often uncertain nature. In an extremely bold and light-hearted way, the performance challenges accepted norms about what a stage situation can be. In their creative processes, Szostak and Fejdasz-Hanczewska followed their children, their imagination, and their stage decisions, practicing mindfulness and responding to what is happening here and now.

The performances of "WSPÓŁUDOMOWIENIE – wersje warszawskie" (CO-HOUSING – Warsaw versions) are part of a reflection on the crisis of accessibility to art and the difficult working conditions in the cultural sector, which particularly affect parent-artists.
In response to these challenges, the Dance and Other Performing Arts Pavilion program devotes part of its activities to supporting creators and audiences with parenting or caregiving experience and to the topic of multigenerational stage representation. The focus is on caring and seeking solutions for a more inclusive and diverse performing arts environment.

The project aims to build visibility for parents or caregivers in the performing arts and choreography, and to improve working conditions and reception on an international scale.

Iza Szostak's show was created as part of (M)others on tour, a project funded by Perform Europe (curator Renata Piotrowska-Auffret, project leader: Ochota Cultural Center). The (M)others on tour project was created for artists who combine their creative work with caregiving responsibilities. Its aim is to show that art can be created without exhausting travel and giving up everyday family life.

A choreographer and performer whose artistic journey has taken her from classical dance, through contemporary dance and improvisation, to experiments with new materialism and VR technologies. A graduate of the Warsaw Ballet School and Codarts in Rotterdam. At the center of her work is the body—as a medium for exploring relationships with the environment, objects, and technology. In performances such as RE//MIX – Merce Cunningham, Europa. Śledztwo (Europe. Investigation), National Affairs, and Balet koparyczny (Excavator Ballet), the body becomes part of larger structures: systems, machines, and archives. Since 2020, the artist has been working with virtual reality technologies, creating the projects "Future Presence" (WRO Biennale) and "Score" (TRAFO), which transfer choreography into digital space. She lives in Warsaw and is the mother of two children. She co-founded the Centrum w Ruchu collective and develops projects combining dance, visual arts, and new technologies, often in collaboration with audiovisual artist Kuba Słomkowski. Mother of Rozalka and Ignacy.
